REALLY PISSING ME OFF!!!
Now, apparently, the red arrows are too british, and not in-keeping with the nature of the games says the culture minister. This is an intersting concept as I was under the obviously false impression that national nations with national pride are competing against other national nations for prizes and pride was exactly the the nature of the games… Are people worried that if the red arrows are in reseve, and in the event of Great Britian not getting enough medals, there may be a strafing run on the back straight of the womens 4×400 meters… Lets hope the final will be between France (who will instantly surrender), Italy (who will start cowering behind the starter with the gun) and the Americans (who will be diving for cover pulling out huge weaponry from their shorts).
Is it really a surprise that a) the young people are not voting any more, and b) people have no faith in the government.
While The Daily Telegraph are not know for rumour mongering, they may not be the best investigative reporters, but wait, why is this buzzing around the world… The word is that the government response is actually a denial, and even the offical red arrows reponse is not actually confirming nor denying anything.
Hang on a mo though… On the one hand, while the “exclusion” of the red arrows may not have specifically been made, the decision not to include them in the first place may have been, so if you were never “included” you can never actually be unceremoniously “excluded” them and if you have decided not to include them then the red arros would not know about being “excluded”, so they would not be able to comment on that particularly.
hang on another mo though… 2 possible outcomes, either the red arrows will fly at the games (whether they were going to or not) which would be a nice coup for them, or they will not fly at the games (whether they were going to or not) in which case subscribers to “Conspiracy whacknut quarterly” will scream “told you so”…
Whatever, sign the petition anyhow.
The video of parts of the games in ‘36 still show swastickers, surely the ignomy of naziism is greater than being British…. or are people still pissed that we had the greatest empire ever… greater than that of the Romans even. Now look at us. A bunch of snivelling, politically correct, spineless, pussy liberals.
It’s also interesting to note that the British Airways are tipped for the “official airline” of the games. Obviouly they are not too British… maybe cuz a) it has the word “British” in the name, or b) cuz they are paying between £50m and £80m for the privilege.
Government; grow a spine! Being British does not mean being white, or anti-europe, it means standing up for a culture and tradition that should change with the times and being tollerant of others – to the point of giving away the rights I have to the resources of my community.
