I have to admit I struggled. A Brian the size of a planet and I had very little idea of what was going on with the half dozen or so sub-plots.
Basically though a change in an event in the late 50’s changed the course of history. This change created “Dr Manhatten” who interfered with things like the Vietnam war allowing the US to win and keeping Richard Nixon in power for a while – again a confusing element, the 22nd amendment of 1951 asside, the timeline kept jumping though the 60’s, 80’s, present-ish… etc. Anyhow I have been reliably informed that the overall plot (at about 2.5 hours into the movie) is now the world is on the brink of nuclear war.
there was some interesting product placement as well. For example, Wonder Bra… the hot chick is fully love balooned up for the entire movie, and when she finally frees the bresticles, you “wonder” where the hell they went. On the plus side though, she does keep her PVC boots durng the rumpy!!
The Doctors opinion? Well, you may want to go read the comic series, not that it will help with the story, but it will provide some background to the confusion. I think it was well worth it just for the shag in boots scene.
And on a completly un related topic, this book also amused me today.
